The academy invites home schooling students to study literature by William Shakespeare beginning Feb. 10. All students ages 12-14 are invited to study the life and times of William Shakespeare, with special attention given to the crafting of Shakespeare’s verse and the language of his day through his play, The Tragedy of Hamlet. After understanding Shakespeare’s background and the play’s origins, students read the play in parts, discussing Shakespeare’s use of biblical and classical allusions, including other literary elements. Students conclude their Shakespearean study with a formal written essay. Classes meet Mon., Weds., 1–2 p.m., beginning Feb. 10 and running through March 13. A Medieval Feast with a movie of the play will be held March 13, 9:30 a.m. Registration: $120.
