Kimberly E. Hughes

Mrs. Hughes has been administrating and teaching at Peace Lutheran Academy since 2002. A day school teacher since 1986, she has experience working in inner-city and suburban schools. Mrs. Hughes was trained in Classical Education while on the faculty at Zion Lutheran Academy in Fort Wayne, IN. She has received further training at Logos Academy in Moscow, ID as well as with the Consortium for Classical Lutheran Education. While at Peace, Mrs. Hughes has been instrumental in curriculum development and furthering the principles of Classical Education. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and reading and is a member of the Jane Austen Society of North America.

Mrs. Gehlbach received her degree from Wisconsin Lutheran College in Elementary Education with a minor in English in 2017. Also, an alumna of Peace Lutheran Academy, Mrs. Gehlbach is eager to begin her career in a school that prepared her well for her academic endeavors. Having worked part-time at Peace during her undergraduate years, she has fostered a warm relationship with her students, colleagues, and their families. (more…)

Elisabeth J. Schneider
Mrs. Schneider joined the faculty of Peace as Latin teacher in 2014. She began her language studies with German and added Latin in college, which culminated in degrees in German and Classics. Her teaching experience started while she was a graduate teaching assistant working on her Master’s degree. Mrs. Schneider is thrilled to be able to add to the education of Peace students in an area that is so underappreciated. While not in the classroom, Mrs. Schneider enjoys caring for her young children, reading, and playing the cello.

Peter C. Bender
Pastor Bender was ordained in 1987 in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He was installed as the Pastor of Peace Lutheran Church in 1991. Under Pastor Bender, the congregation established Peace Lutheran Academy in 1995. Pastor has been instrumental in educating the congregation about the importance of catechesis, and in creating materials that are used in the catechesis of congregation members, public school students, and Academy students, as well as in churches and schools all over the world. In addition to shepherding the congregation of Peace Lutheran Church, Pastor is the sole teacher of catechism to the students of Peace Lutheran Academy.

Gary V. Gehlbach
Ordained in 1987, Gary V. Gehlbach first served a dual parish in Wautoma and Hancock, WI. In 1991 he accepted a call to serve as pastor at Triune Lutheran Church, Sharon WI, where he served until 2008. While in the South Wisconsin District he served as District Secretary from 1991 to 1999, and he has helped to establish mission congregations in Brandon MS, Plainfield WI, Lake Geneva WI, and Rockford IL. In 2012 he accepted a call to serve as assistant pastor at Peace Lutheran Church as a worker-priest; he assists Pastor Bender in a variety of spiritual, educational, and administrative tasks. In 2016 he became the administrator of Concordia Catechetical Academy (CCA), an extension of Peace Lutheran Church which is dedicated to the promotion of Luther’s Small Catechism and faithful Lutheran catechesis. The CCA achieves its mission largely through the development and publication of catechetical materials, and the hosting of catechetical conferences.

Katherine J. May
Director of Cherub and Academy Choirs; Organist
Mrs. May has extensive experience leading musicians in worship settings, and in teaching music in both inner-city and suburban Lutheran Schools. She has directed adult and children’s choirs as well as hand bells and instrumental ensembles. Outside of the church, Mrs. May maintains a private piano studio, of which many Academy students are members. She works with the children several times a week to prepare them for participation in the Divine Service on Sunday mornings. Mrs. May enjoys teaching, but also enjoys spending time with her family and attending concerts.

Brenda K. Greschner
Mrs. Greschner functions as Administrative Assistant for both the congregation of Peace Lutheran Church and for the Peace Lutheran Academy. She has performed both of these tasks faithfully since 2006. Not only has she been called upon to organize paperwork and prepare documents, she is also called upon quite frequently to nurse Academy students and to contact parents. Mrs. Greschner not only mothers our students, but she also tends to her own family, enjoys decorating, cooking, and baking.
George and Sue Kaminski
Mr. and Mrs. Kaminski are long-time members of the Peace congregation, and have been the custodians since 1982. They have been faithful servants for all those years, keeping our facility clean and well-organized. In addition, they have been wonderful role models for our students and have established a close relationship to the Academy family. Mr. Kaminski also works as a dental technician, and has worked as a local firefighter and EMT. Mrs. Kaminski is the principal babysitter of her grandchildren. They both enjoy spending time with their family any chance they can get.
